What is a mirror good for? A mirror shows us the state we're in. It shows messy hair, food in between teeth, and dirt on our face. This is the negative role of a mirror: it reveals what's wrong with ourselves. A mirror also has a positive role. It helps us change to become what we ought to be. A mirror is for transformation. The word of God is like a mirror, and the transformation is to make us like Christ.
Some Christians have some difficulty believing and acting according to God's Word because they think God reasons like a person. But God isn't like man; we're the ones called to be like Him; to live and act like Him. He's made this possible through the mirror principle of the Word. 2 Corinthians 3:18 represents the Word of God as the mirror of God. James 1:23-24 also says anyone who hears the Word of God is like a man who sees his face in a mirror. In other words, God expects you to hear His Word and do what it says, but many still don't know how to do the Word.
Now, the mirror principle of the Word is that you see yourself as what God sees you to be in His Word, and then, consequently, act. It's that easy to do the Word! For example, in the Word, the mirror of God, He says, you're a new creation in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17). That's God's image and reflection of you. See that image and endorse it. Act like it's true; for it's true. Again, He shows you in the Word you're the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21)—say and see it so. That's His image of you. Seeing yourself in the Word—the mirror of God—and acting accordingly is the way to live in the reality of your inheritance in Christ. That's how to enjoy all that God has made available to you in Christ Jesus. I urge you to use your mirror today: keep studying and listening to the Word of God. As you do, you'll be transfigured to become more and more like the glory you see in the Word. This is the mirror principle of the Word.
The Bible is God's gift to us. He wants us to look more and more like Jesus each day. When we look at ourselves in the mirror of God's Word, we can see where we need to change—and we allow God to re-align our hearts with His. So today, when you pick up your Bible, look in the mirror—spiritually speaking—and allow your Heavenly Father to show you how you can look more like His Son.
A mirror symbolizes spiritual reflection. The spiritual mirror reflects consequences of actions that are both negative and positive. A spiritual mirror is said to reflect the life each person creates, including people, places, and events in the viewer's life. It has also been said to describe the act of continual self-evaluation regarding the consequences of thoughts and actions. A spiritual mirror in self-evaluation. Know that, just like a real mirror, a spiritual mirror can only reflect what is currently truly there.
